Senior Electrical Engineer

May 2020 – Present

Leading the electrical and fiber optic system design for a commercial autonomous aerostat system used in telecommunications and emergency response applications.

  • Lead the electrical system design and integration including developing the electrical design basis, functional requirements, and system architecture as well as reviewing FMEA and HazOps processes and results to ensure human and system safety.

  • Manage task distribution and deadlines for the Electrical Engineering Team.

  • Interviewed, hired, and manage three engineers.

Electrical Engineer

September 2016 – May 2020

Developed electrical and fiber optic systems for two R&D and two commercial autonomous aerostats.

  • Designed, built, and tested aerostat electrical systems including cabinets, sensors, and power transmission while managing monetary, power, heat, size, and weight budgets using AutoCAD Electrical, MATLAB, and Excel.

  • Reduced airborne electronics system weight by 80% while maintaining the same functions.

  • Led the definition, sourcing, testing, and integration of over 200 sensors into positioning, pressure management, and flight controls subsystems using Automation Studio and MATLAB.

  • Designed, tested, and maintained single-mode fiber optic systems using both CWDM and DWDM wavelengths including link loss calculations, network architecture, and parts selection.

  • Developed a safety system for a medium voltage power transmission system through the implementation of ground break detection, ground fault detection, and phase fault detection.
